How is your body feeling today?
Our bodies are always communicating with us and yet we often don’t listen, dial out their message or, worse still, disassociate from them. And we are really doing ourselves a massive disservice when we numb out what’s really going on in the precious containers of our souls.
Tantra massage invites us to intentionally slow down and be more receptive to our physical experience. Through conscious loving touch we are able to experience the subtle sensations present in both our physical and energetic bodies and this brings greater wholeness and presence.
Today my lower back aches and my neck feels stiff. My body is telling me that it feels a bit constricted and needs to gently stretch out and take some space. And so, in the spirit of walking the talk, I will spend some time later on lying down on my Tantra mattress and consciously relaxing my muscles.
Every time we stop and listen to our bodies we offer ourselves a much needed dose of self-love.
And here’s a poem I wrote on the topic:
Temple Talk
The body speaks a thousand words, be careful how you treat it
Emotions stored and pain deferred, ignore them; you’re depleted
The back that yelps, the neck pain felt all signs it needs attention
Its wisdom is us there to help, don’t let it go unmentioned
The body is our earthly home, where our souls roam, we take it
When we ignore the parts that groan, then overtime we shake it
How are you in relationship with your own holy temple?
Do you past its awareness skip? It’s not just there for rental!
The body is what’s holding us, it carries us and knows us
Its mission is not scalding us, self-love is what it shows us
Just lately, finally I’ve heard the softness it requires
The body speaks a thousand words, tune into wisdom higher
What does your body need today? And how will you respond to this need?
