Whilst integrating a recent personal Tantra experience, I noticed a book on the practice room table called “I see yonis everywhere”. This brought a smile to my face as, if we look closely, we can see the genitals being mirrored back in nature in so many different ways.
Orchids, for example, are particularly similar to yonis….
Sometimes we women can feel shame about the size, shape, form and appearance of our yoni – judging it and comparing it to how we think it should be. Yet when we look at nature we can see the many different colours, forms and shapes reflecting the natural and unique diversity of our most intimate parts.
Yoni is of course the Sanskrit term that is given to the female genitalia and which also symbolises the Hindu goddess, Shakti, who is the representation of feminine power. According to Tantric texts, the yoni is the source of life and the word is also often translated to mean sacred space.
I personally love how the term yoni brings more honour, beauty and divine reverence to the source of our female creative life force and deepest truth. And so needless to say, I am a firm advocate for yoni love. Yonis come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and they are all beautiful!
In fact, I think we should start a movement! #beautifulyonis
